‘Walk this Way’
Inspired by the incredible achievement of Captain Tom Moore, who recently walked 100 lengths of his garden to raise funds for the NHS, Bosence staff member ‘Annie Wollock’ came up with the idea of hosting a charity event to take place within the grounds of Bosence Farm. The event is one which both clients and staff members will take part in and contribute to collectively. Monies raised through the event will be split 50/50 between the NHS and Bosence Farm.
Over the coming days and possibly weeks, staff and clients in treatment at each of our residential treatment services will aim to complete a total of 500 laps of the Bosence Farm bottom field. With each lap coming in at just over half a kilometre (589 steps) what they aim to achieve will be no easy feat, with a total distance of no less than 280 kilometres required.
The majority of walking is planned to take place in the mornings before the treatment programmes at each service begin for the day, however additional laps at lunchtime will be encouraged from those currently enrolled on the programme at Bosence rehabilitation.
Although there isn’t a stringent target in terms of the time required to complete the challenge, however we are aiming for under 2 weeks. The event began on Monday the 20th of April, as far a total of 69 laps have been completed, which means there are only 431 laps to go!! With the weather forecast to be clear and sunny for the foreseeable future, the conditions couldn’t be any more perfect.
